Default ProDrive Oil Pump Gear PROBLEM

Ok, went to install my Prodrive oil pump gear. The first housing we tried (95 GSR) to fit it in was WAY too small. Knowing that Honda made two different sized housings for the same oil pump, we tried a different one (95 B16a). This one was the right size, so we slapped it in, and oiled up the gears so we could check for free play and clearances. What we found was interesting. Keep in mind this is a BRAND NEW oil pump housing, purchased for a 95 B16a Del Sol.

Once installed, we tried to spin the gear. We found that it bound up, and basically refused to turn once we got passed a certain point. Using a set of feeler gauges, the absolute smallest one would BARELY fit around the outside of the outer gear between it and the housing (.0015). Factory tolerance is .004. So, we popped the Prodrive gear out, and put the stocker back in. It spun freely, and the .004 tolerance was exactly in spec, as it should be.

Anyone who's installed this - is this normal? Will it break itself in, or is there a problem? Thanks very much.

John no longer there but theres a new guy by the name of GREG talk to him. THE oil pump are very finicky depending on which housing and which gear you got.
