Problems with idle...Hmm...
I have a problem with my idling. It idles irratically up and down, up and down. From 800 RPM's to 1300 RPM's up and down, back and fourth. The thing is, it only does this when the engine has been run. If I just start it, and let it idle, it idles fine, but if I drive longer than 3 min, it starts acting up idling irratically. What could it be?
-Thanks.

Thanks but I don't think it's a vacuum leak. It boosts fine...everything is fine....except for the idle when the engine is hot, or if it's been driven....
Check your throttle idle spring. You need a flathead screwdriver to mess with it. If that doesn't do the trick, check your distributor timing, and if that still doesn't do the trick, check your cam gear timing.
Gauranteed to be your thermal idle valve located on the bottom of your throttle body. Take it apart and clean it out....they are know to get loose and cause erratic idle.

This is also what came into my mind when I read this...but he said its fine when it starts, its only bad after a while. I thought the fast idle valve did that when the motor was cold, and when the coolant heated up, the air did not bypass the T/B
hey man.. have u had your intake mainfold off...? if so.. i would bet that there is a leak at the gasket. i have seen and fixed many of them . if it is not that.. then it is a line or something is in the wrong place.. hit us back with a litle more info
I have the exact same problem currently with my setup. Only on mine, I know it's not the FITV as 99-up B18C1's don't have one. Try this: once the engine warms up and the idle is bouncing around, pull the connector on the IACV. This will trigger an MIL, but your idle should also drop considerably and stay even. If the idle instead increases, it's most likely a vacuum leak.
I had this problem too when i installed my JR Supercharger and didnt have enough coolant in the system. I guess it was getting too hot and caused it to idle like that, so I would keep checking your coolant. Even though the radiator is full, the engine might not be full yet. Keep filling it. Another problem is that it might be a bad oxygen (O2) sensor. You might wanna check out your O2 sensor also.
