Default Problem with idle after AEM EMS was recalibrated

Back in September, my integra died on me. I spoke with the AEM tech over the phone, and we found that the eprom chip needed to be recalibrated. So I sent it out to them, they reprogrammed the eprom and tested it. They send it back to me, I hook it up, and it starts but idles really low. Well, the car has sat in the garage since then throughout the winter, and I recently tried starting it again, just to run it, and it was hard to start. I finally got it to start, but, I have to hold my foot on the gas to keep it running. otherwise it just dies on me. What could possibly be the problem here? I plan on retuning it in spring, and I have to drive it an hour on the freeway to chicago to do so. But I don't want to do any possible damage.

Thanks

It was somewhat tuned before I ever had the eprom recalibrated. It wasn't perfect though. I only had about 2 hours tuned, and it ran rich.

We had an aem 1020 that did the same thing. We could not get the ecu to idle at all without tensioning the throttle cable. Sent it back and to get recalibrated and it still wouldnt idle. Finally went to hondata and it idles like a champ. Good luck. Hope you get it worked out.

So are you saying that I have to tighten the throttle cable in order to fix it? I don't want to go with the hondata. I prefer sticking with the AEM.

Its not the newest version. I purchased it a little over a year ago. I'm not sure which version that would be.

simply adjust your idle vs target base table, just raise it up a bit.

First thing i would do is upgrade to v1.03 then work from there. The older versions always alot of problems.

Would I have to purchase an entirely new unit to have the newer version?

Do I have to connect to the laptop to do this? Or is it just the throttle cable I adjust?

find a good ems tuner and take your car there... if you go into the thing knowing absolutly nuthing your bound to screw it up.

you dont have to buy anything to upgrade, the software is on the ems forums, dont go tightning the throttle cable, thats not fixing anything.

But the closest tuner that I have been able to find is in Chicago, which is about an hour away from where I live.

What if I called AEM, and asked the tech there to guide me through the software, and possibly fix the idle problem? I just want it to be driveable, so I can take it to the dyno in Chicago.

I found the new version software on the EMS forum, and was just wondering if when I install the new version, will it affect anything already stored in my EMS? Besides the old software version, does it overwrite any of the tuning that I had stored?

what exact setup do you have.. injectors, map sensors, etc, etc...

if you connect a laptop to your ems it will download the calibration that is on there automaticly.

i would suggest updating to the new software, if your car matches a calibration i have i would be happy to send you something so you can get the car to a tuner... i only have calibrations for version 1.03 so you would have to start buy updating to the new software

i'm running 440cc injectors, stock sensors, 255il fuel pump. What else do you need to know?

AEM already recalibrated it for me, so I shouldn't have to do that again.

So, when I update my software, all I do is download the new version off of the EMS forum, connect the laptop to the EMS and car, and then what? Once I'm logged into the program, what do i click on to download that newer version to the ems?

Sorry if I sound like a noob here. I've honestly never messed with the EMS, and I really don't want to do anything wrong to screw it up.

that should walk you through the process of updating the ems...

hte 440cc turbo base map should run the car good enough to get to a dyno

I just realized that when AEM sent my ems back, there was a sheet included with it saying it calibrated file V1.03.cal. So that means I shouldn't have to download it again.

What about the idling problem though? Will the car be tough to keep alive when driving it there?

v1.03, 440 turbo base map, should be good enough to limp you anywhere you need to go.

Ok, heres your answer,
Get on AEM's website and download the AEM software for the EMS
Then go to this in your computer:
C:\Program Files\AEM\AEMPro\Instructions
In there your going to find four PDF files, AEM EFI Basics V1.3, AEMLog Users Manual V1.01, AEMPro User Guide V1.16.2a, Mounting Instructions.
Read them.
Anymore questions, go to AEM's forum, some of the people are FKing morons there, but some of it is usefull. Your going to need to hook your computer or laptop up the car to get this up and running. Also, How low is your "low" idle? My car idles at 650-700 w/ a chipped P28 and a VAFC running a B16A.

Before my computer ever needed to be recalibrated, it idled around 700rpm. When I got it back from AEM, it would stay running but at like 300rpm. But recently, when I tried to start it again, it is hard to start and when it does start, it will drop in revs until it hits zero and dies.
