Default problem with getting my car tuned

So i am ready to tune and there is only one shop in my town that i know that tunes. I have been talking back and forth with them asking about tuning and today i got a qoute on how much it would cost to tune my car(VAFC and dsm 450's). That shouldnt be all that hard being that i here of a lot of ppl on the baord that run this set up.

anyway talking with the guy i give him the run down on wat i am running, he takes a mintue and then tells me that it may take 3-4 hours to tune my car at a rate of about $164/hour. Now that is about $500-$600, I was like "god damn". I can have the money buy next tuesday but i am kinda iffy on whether i should be spending that much money to tune. He said it may take that long because big injectors take longer to tune.

So my question is, should i spend the money on some very needed tuning or just run it the way i am now (runs like a champ but i know its not at its best). And also is everyone elses tuning rates this high?

let me know guys............to me its sounds like too much money.

no, i don't think that they should be charging you that much. A local shop of my is only charging 150 for 3 runs plus 75 for shop rate. Its only going to take one hour and half as they said to tune s/afc with my rc 440s.

sounds like a lil too much to me. i mean, some tuners are real good and it'll cost u to get everything done perfect by them, but i still think u can get it done cheaper than what that guy is offerin. considering ur running the standard afc hack with ur settings off of other setups that are similar to urs, i'm thinking a good tuner should be able to get it tuned out pretty quickly for cheaper. good luck man

the problem is that i dont know of anyone else that tunes here. (Salt lake city area). maybe i just gotta do more research in my area but i am almost sure they are the only ones that specialize in hondas.

this place is great, a lot of fast cars come out of their shop. **** the fastest street honda in utah comes out of there.

too expensive, i got my hondata tuned with 750's for cheaper than that. it only should take 1 to 2 hr max to tune that setup.
