problem on the dyno, need help
this is my first post on ol honda-tech and im hopin someone can shed some light on a problem im having with my Si. ive got a 00 Si with a built b16 and i had it on the local dyno here trying to get a touch up tune done since i swapped turbos. im tuning with hondata s200 and here is the problem we are running into. we got the cars drivability all dialed in with the 1000cc injectors and when we started to make some full pulls the car runs into a phantom rev limiter at 7400rpm's. the hondata's rev limit was set at 8200, and everything else in the ignition is stock save for some plug wires. at first we thought even tho it was hard to believe that maybe we were blowin spark out, so we swapped to some different plugs and took the boost controller off and was runnin wastegate pressure. no luck, no matter what boost setting we are at, 12, 16, 21, same spot every time the car runs into this limiter and just kills power. the car will still rev to 8 but it will not make any power, the a/f's and boost are rock solid when it goes into its fit and stay solid all the way to 8, it just doesnt make power and sounds like a very fast rev limiter. we tried swapping dizzy's, plug wires, ecu's, gapped the plugs differently, and still to no avail. has anyone ever heard of a car doing this? im lost and have no idea what to do next
no external coil, its all stock, what exactly would gappin the plugs differently help? i figure if im blowin spark out, it would have changed when we lowered the boost.. am i right?
If it has two step enabled check out the settings. It shouldn't make a difference but if anything is at about 7400 change the setting and give it a try. Also make sure your not hitting the boost limit (creeping).
two step is on at 5500 but the problem was happenin before we enabled that, and boost is rock solid with no creep, boost cut was set at 23psi, and the most i was seeing on high boost was 21psi

hey its me Marko, dont know if you saw my im on the other site but i read a few posts on here regarding the full throttle shift feature creating problems for some people. I have a s100b so i am not very familiar with how the fts feature works, but perhaps someone that has had issues with theirs can chime in.
also, I thought your car would hit a limiter @ 7400 and wouldnt pull through it... I didnt realize you could get it to go higher.
Another part I was wondering about with your car is your ignitor. I know you said your tach was off and ive heard of related issues between the tach and ignitor.

I also searched a bit and am wondering are you using a conversion harness of some sort to make your car obd1...? there could be issues related to that or even the main wiring harness. Also some people have had issues with the icm (igition control module).
Darnit, I want you to get your issue resolved so you can take me for a ride (to see how my old turbo likes its new home

Disable the two step and raise the boost cut a little. The MAP sensor could be reading different from your boost guage. Happened to me few times. Especially if you are running a GM 3 bar and selected the Motec settings for it. Also like some one else said, close the gap up on your plugs.
start your plug gap around .024 and maybe go down from there.
also double check your distributor that your timing is on.
my car was only making 285 when i dyno'd. 84mm lsvtec and a big t3t4. turned out my dist. slipped time and was retarted.
