Problem -- coincidence or no?
Well, as most of you saw the dyno chart, I just added Hondata, and I am totally happy with it, However I noticed last night (the first tiime at night I drove the car) the headlights would dim and go bright again. so i was like hrmm....i switched the greddy turbo timer over to the volt meter mode, and sure enough, it bounced from 14v to 12v, well when i got on the high way it stayed 14.0. Or usually if i turn my a/c on it will stay above 14.0 as well. So i got curious and went on a test ride tonight...it seems, at around 3000 rpms is where the alternator will swtich on and off.....below 3000 it will stay around 12v and above it, it will turn on and stay at 14 or so.....So, i dont know what the deal is...I dont think my alternator is crappying out, maybe something with the ecu??? does anyone have any experiences with this problem?

Re: Problem -- coincidence or no? (boostaholic)
voltage regulator is within the alternator and cant be replaced without replacing the alternator, correct?

sounds like a voltage regulator, look up a good starter-alternator shop, and they should be able to pull it apart to let you know for sure, also they will be able to replace the regulator, but may be more cost efficient to get a new alternator. good luck!

Re: Problem -- coincidence or no? (acuratech)
I had it checked by lol autozone today, their "machine" said that the alternator was fine. im going to do some more tests on the charging system later, but Im suspecting that the ECU just plain sucks.
