Default Prelude turbo initial expected problems

Last weekend i finished installing my turbo kit on my 5th gen prelude. So far i got the whole turbo kit in plus dsm 440cc injectors running open downpipe. I'm waiting for my ecu to come in from phearable.net with a decent basemap.

I took my car around the block a couple times after finishing the isntall to make sure everything was running right. As expected it was running like **** (o2 sensor not hooked up yet). This was no surprise of course since i was running the stock basemap so it was definitely running rich. The car would drive fine but when i gave more than 50% throttle or went past 4.5k rpms i would get fuel cut(or what felt like a fuel cut). Initially i wasnt worried since i didnt expect anything out of the car without a decent basemap thats actually meant for a turbo prelude.

Basically things are going as planned, however there's people telling me that i should be able to hit boost. Granted it wouldnt run perfectly smooth but it should go into boost at least. But i keep telling them that my car cuts off right as my boost gauge goes into the boost. This i was also told happens because the car goes into limp mode, is this also correct or is it a mechanical problem?

Will the new basemap fix my problems or is there something im overlooking here?

You really shouldn't be going into boost anyway. There is no point in driving it if you know you're running that rich. And yes, I'm pretty sure the computer goes into limp-mode, but only after ~10 psi. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Could it be that your MAP sensor is reading positive pressure? If MAP sensor reads a positive pressure (boost) instead of a vacuum (normal NA) it will go into a kind of limp mode.
