Precision sc61 vs. gt35e?
I'm sure this has been beat to death but I'm a new user. Anyone have an opinion on which of these is better? I am currentl running a stock gsr bottom end and would like decent spool up, but also need the power cause built block is on the way.

Re: Precision sc61 vs. gt35e? (boostismycrack)
Literally the only difference is one is Dual BB, the other is not. SC61 still uses a highly efficient GT Wheel But I'd run a SC60 if your bottom end isn't built, yet.. Rather laggy up front. I went through the same debate, and dropped the turbine side down, a little so it was good to 630hp instead of 680

I guess I should let the cat out of the bag. Precision just released a new turbo called the GT35E. The only difference the GT35E and SC61 is the turbine wheel. Where as with the SC61 you get the T350 or a T04 turbine wheel.
But the GT35E will have a GT turbine wheel!! I just picked one up for my own personal car. I'd have pics but I took it to Direp's house and I left it there.
But with this turbine it means faster spool! The GT35E has no ball bearings either.

ah, so they finally added the exh wheel. cool ****.
its still their own housings though is it not?(diff than the gt ones) and its still not bb
when are they gonna take the bb and market a gt turbo as a precision

Thats very true, but all the new Garrett GT stuff I saw at SEMA had a 5-bolt. I wonder why?

Re: Precision sc61 vs. gt35e? (Arturbo)
OT- Arturbo
why are Precisions HP ratings so far off from Garrett's?
Like Garrett says 420 HP based on 42 lbs/min of flow for a GT32.
Precision says 520 HP for their GT32E.
Where are they coming up with this extra 90HP?
Any idea whether the Precision GTs have divided exhaust housings like the Garrett GTs?

Re: Precision sc61 vs. gt35e? (Arturbo)
From their website:
"Mitsubishi GT Technology turbos come with TO4B, TO4S, TO4E or Garrett GT compressor covers.
The GT35E comes with the T04E cover with 3" inlet and 2" outlet and supports up to 600 hp at the flywheel."
Why is it only rated at 600 flywheel?

Good question and I'll try to answer it the best I can. Lets use the GT35E or GT35R for example. FYI, the GT35R/GT35E has the same compressor that is in the SC61. According to Garrett on the compressor map that I have it says, GT35R 56 Trim 70AR. Horespower 400-600. I think what Precision is doing is that they are getting their HP figures from the average. Even tho they rate the SC61/GT35E/GT35R at 600hp on that compressor. Now if 600whp is flywheel hp then that # has already been surpassed with Hybrid901's dyno of 530whp at only 24psi. You can still go up 12more psi on this turbo if you wanted to. I think the extra 90hp is coming from the "range" that garret puts out. Make sense?
And I have never used, sold or seen a divided housing from Precision.

Re: Precision sc61 vs. gt35e? (Arturbo)
Kind of makes sense, but here is another case- on my GT37 Garrett rates it at 550hp, with a flow of 55 lbs/min. Precision says 700HP. Makes me think I *might* have a turbo just a teeny bit too big.
I guess there is a deeper question- apparently (lbs/min) x 10 is a very very conservative way of measuring horsepower?
thanks-Ben

Re: Precision sc61 vs. gt35e? (Bnjmn)
I would follow Garretts ratings in that example. 55lb/min doenst add up to make 700hp. The GT37 is actually a great turbo. I was undecided if I should run that or the GT35E.
But you see we need to know these things because I have found mistakes on their website before and have had them corrected.
