I am going to boost my 2000 Civic SI. It has 67,000 original miles on the engine. Before I boost, I am going to replace my timing belt and water pump. I also read somewhere that it is a good idea to replace the factory oil pump as well before installing a turbo. Do you recommend this? What other engine services do you recommmend before I start shoving 9psi into my engine? Thx.

if your oil pressure is within specs i don't see the reason for changing it unless you're rebuilding the motor.

67k is pretty healthy, compression test and usual inspection should do it for ya.

Do you know off hand, what a b16a2 is supposed to have for oil pressure at cold start, WOT and idle? Ill hafta install an oil pressure gauge, Im going to get one for my pillar anyway. Maybe Ill get one and start hooking that up before I boost, so i have a better idea. Thx.

Typically oil pressure at startup is around 60-75psi on cold start. No more than 90 at WOT. Its a great idea to have one hooked up before going turbo

Right on. I was trying to decide between the 0-100psi and 0-150psi AEM mechanical gauges. I was leaning toward the 100psi anyway. Thx Shodan

i prefer electric gauges for fluids.. don't want anything entering the cabin that can potentially spray over something.

compression/leakdown, headstuds w/ OEM headgasket+copperspray, valve lash and you should be good to go. 67K is no reason to change out waterpump/belt/oil pump unless you have reason to be concerned, OR want to do some preventative maintenance.

with proper tuning, quality parts, and a healthy motor, 500whp is achievable, and yes it will last for a long time to come.

I live in North Dakota... That would be considered extreme driving conditions... So thats why I wanna change out the timing belt... peace of mind i guess.

If your engine still has the original timing belt on it, you should replace it regardless. I wouldn't trust a 10 year old timing belt on an engine that is frequently going to redline.

Most everything else that has been said is good information. Just make sure the vehicle is in proper running condition before you throw a lot of power at it.
