Default Pre-Install Questions

I went shopping today for bolts for my setup and I finally have everything. I installed everything outside the car to see if the wastegate dump would fit since it was made by another company (RLD-FAB) for their manifold and wanted to be sure everything fits. But I did have some concerns with the 44mm wastegate fire ring. My 38mm ring sat flush with the flange, but the 44 is raised up a bit:

Here are some other pics that I took while it was all together, noticed the KICK *** welds on the full-race manifold:

Also, I didn't bring the manifold with me when I bought the bolts, so when I got home I noticed that they just fit without a washer in there. Should I have gotten longer bolts? I got crush washers, but should I use them (and if so, should I put washers on both sides)?

Well after inspecting the fire ring it looks to push up against the piston for a better seal. But should I use longer bolts for manifold to turbo with washers and on what side?

Yea, I got the lock washers already, but I'm concerned with the length of the bolt with the washer on: (the second picture doesn't have the washer on)

You will have the full effect of the bolt if you add the lock washer BUT, you should always add a plain washer underneath a lock washer as that is it's entire point. If you just tq the lock washer down, it will gouge your mani and over time from repeated removal and installation, it will make the tq'ing surface uneven. Just go grab 4 more bolts with about 5mm more length.

Please don't blast me about the washer comments, I teach mechanics (aircraft) for a living and it's a hard habit to break telling people to run plain washers under the lock washers lol.

Thanks for that info, I'll check it out. But the place I went to buy the stuff only had bolts that were 20mm longer!! I'll have to shop around.
