Default possible problem with aem ems???

I have an aem v2 for my s2000. I went to the dyno on friday and the tuner said vtec is not working. He checked the vtec selenoid and it worked with 12 volts. He said its the ecu or the wiring.
So i went home and checked the vtec selenoid wire and it had continuity. I called aem and they said its a problem with the car. I sent them my calibration and got on the phone with him. We changed vtec settings to kick on at over 20 percentage throttle and 0 mph. The lap top showed it kicked on.
After getting off the phone i opened the hood. The vtec selenoid does kick on and off with your new settings you can hear it. Click. However, it doesn't trigger it all of the time. Sometimes it sends 12 volts. Other times it doesn't. When i press the gas it only triggers it half the time. Even when its not working the ecu us showing that it is.

I think the aem is bad. What are your thoughts?
Here is a video.

Did you calibrate your tps sensor?

Hows your oil pressure?

As stated, check oil level of the car and oil pressure. Vtec will not engage if either is low

with the aem, its not setup like stock ecu. it does not "check" oil pressure first then allow vtec, it just turns on at whatever rpm the tuner sets it at.

OIl pressure MANUALLY. no oil pressure gauge? Hmm. Without proper oil pressure to the solenoid, you won't get it. I wouldn't expect the AEM to "check" for you, nor any other system. Remember, the vtec solenoid system runs on proper oil level, and oil pressure to move the piston over the rocker arms to lock the proper arms into VTEC mode to use the larger cam lobes.

I manually activated the vtec selenoid and it worked just fine. The wire is only putting out 8 volts today.

Put the vtec out put wire into another adcr out put and assign its new location in the outputs tab

Any other out put that puts out 12v

I dont remember the outputs off hand.

Yeah.

No way all your drivers arent working right.

Calibrate your tps sensor in the wizard.

Does your rad fan kick on everytime its supposed to?

If it does flip those around. Use that driver to power the vtec sol and vice versa

Unless your rad fan doesnt work either

In case you guys were wondering this is what happened with the ems.
"Burnt internal trace on adapter board. Unable to repair. Need to replace Adapter board.

Main board has damaged idle 1-8 and HS1-HS4."

You must have had a positive on a neg terminal.

I wouldnt blame aem
Same way you wouldnt blame garrett for user error when using the wrong oil weight, or feed and return or restrictor etc.

Aem computers break left and right so its no suprise. Every person i know whos had aem ems has had some type of problem. I dont know why you dont hear anything bad about them. If hondata wasn't a hassle with the s2000 i would have taken it over aem in a heartbeat.

Yep, I hated my AEM EMS and sold it long ago. Hondata has been great over the past 9 years I have been using it. If I ever do upgrade, it will be to Motec done deal.
