Default possible to drive w/o boost?

heres my problem. im installing my own turbo, and then i'll have to drive about 90 miles to the tuner to get the power fc tuned. i have an fmax kit, minus the mf2, so i have a turbo kit w/o any sort of fuel management. i hadnt driven a turbo car before. i'll be putting in the injectors at the place. any suggestions as to what i should do? i dont want to tow it there. costs too much.

Just keep it out of boost. Won't be difficult, just use light throttle all the way.

Ah, so you're using the Power FC. Let me know how that turns out for ya, heard some good things about them.

If you REALLY wanna keep out of boost..... take your BOV completly off... I did this to test and see if it was working properly (unrelated) but you CAN'T generate boost with a hole that big in your charger pipe..... trust me I tried.

FYI also put some foam filter or wire mesh or something so stuff doesn't get sucked in.

can't you take out the wastegate spring?

another option i've herad is not connecting the intercooler return pipe to the throttle body, and just putting a standard intake there.

wouldn't it be possible to over rev the turbo with the hole in the charge pipe? For this reason i also would not disconnect the charge pipe from the TB. Your best bet is taking out the wastegate spring and trying to keep off the throttle as much as possible. Hope this helps.

this guy is right, yall are wrong (not being mean). your turbo has operating limits. and could easely over rev. that is just like disconnecting your rev limiter and just flooring it. letting it spin with out any restrictionl is very bad. probly the best thing to do is just connect your vaccume to the vaccume of the wg. it will suck it open unless you floor it then it will close and start to spool up. this way you will not have to open the wg at all.

You don't need to go through all that. Just don't press down on the throttle more than 1/4-1/2 way. There have been days I've driven where I don't generate a pound of boost (rare ). When you want to, you can drive without spooling the turbo, it just requires self control.

Don't raise your RPM above 3500rpm?
