Default poll:what turbo for a forged internal stock sleeved gsr? gt2871r, gt30r, etc

ok im looking for a turbo that would be good for daily driving, seeing that i drive the car everyday, but that will also work very well on the drag strip.
my setup consists of:
b18c1 engine
wiseco low comp pistons
eagle rods
polished crank
ge block guard
omni power dual valve springs
3 angle valve job
arp headstuds
crome

at the moment im kinda leanin towards the gt30r, just because it will easily meet my goals, but should still spool pretty quick. does anyone have an idea when i would hit full boost with the gt30r, or any of the turbos listed?

if you dont see the turbo on the poll just add it...but im only interested in garrett turbos!

well im hopin to make 375+ on high boost, but for the street want it at like 300. at the strip my goals are consistent, mid 11's on slicks...10's would be nice, but i dont want to risk it.

does that info help at all?

The first 2 use specially-modified GT30 turbine wheels for use in the T25-style turbine housing, they have different trims, and are internally wastegated

the gt3076R uses a T3 turbine inlet flange

Basically the T-25 flanged turbos are going to spool faster, but make less power. Thats usually the way it works with turbos. The differnt trims are going to effect spool time as well as top end, choose which one fits you best.

I suggest the T3 housing, not for power reasons but if you want to upgrade later you dont have to change manifolds and by a wastegate.

The 2871r will do what you want power wise and spool very early, 30 will give you room to grow and still spool pretty good. I think I will vote Gt30 this time.

I'd pick the 2871r. I'm no expert, but i've tried to do some research on sr20det apps. I'm not so familar with the B-series turbo builds, but i doubt it would be too different. Anyhow, there seems to be a lot of sr20det builds there w/ the 2871r making close to 400whp. I'll see if i can dig up a thread on zilvia.net on the 2871r thread. there's a lot of dynos there.

If you want more than 400whp, then I'd agree you'd prob be better off with a larger turbo. I'd imagine the 2871r also to be more responsive than the 3071r. With the 2871r, you can also get them in the t-25, or t-3 trim. the t-3 trim doesn't have an internal wastegate, however.

I myself am looking to get around 350whp, with fast spool. The 2871r is what i plan to throw on. I'll admit the 3071r is tempting though.

GT28RS, I made 380 on a B16 with mine, and it spooled unbelievably fast. I swapped it for a GT3071R and made 408, but it was not as fun or as fast.
