would the VAFC be interchangble with the SAFC, as far as popularity for fuel mgmt goes?

isn't the SMC better than the AFC, or the exactly the same except for the screen? Do you tune both of them the same way?

if you wanna get cheap, get a fields. they are cheap as ****. I think they are better than an SMC anyday. The again you get what you pay for.

If you're going to get a computer, then just get the SAFC.

If you really want to go cheap, go FMU.

Neither of these setups is optimal, obviously.

VAFC and SAFC are interchangable, the VAFC just controls MAD VTEK yO.

There are numerous threads on this topic, try searching. Also I know that kpt4321 has written a tuning manual for the safc, ask him about that.

As far as pros for the SAFC go, it has a screen, that allows you to monitor correction %, rpm, throttle position, air flow(not applicable to hondas), map pressure, etc. It also has a peak hold feature that alows you see the max values.

Id say if you were to go with either of the two go w/the SAFC unquestionably. If you want cheap go w/a FMU.

I could not agree more. The only people that cant seem to make the rom editing rograms work correctly for them are idiots..

HRRMMMM why wont this stock LS map run my b-16.......????

yeah, educate yourself and use a rom editing program. vafc= sucks, your still adding timing, and thats not good. But if you choose to not educate yourself, go for it.

Again ROM editing is not out of the question, i have researched the topic and it is the IDEAL way to go. The afc+450's would just be temporary to get it up and running until i can spend the time on burning the chip, and acutally soldering it in.

Running @ 7psi and running a bit rich would help out the addition of timing.....

Unfortunately for me i have a chipped NA PM6 that i am using for my zc that has different timing and fuel maps which im sure is adding a pissload of timing.

Really looks to me that turboedit is the only way to go if i can get ahold of another pm6

Does anyone know if there are any maps for the 1.8 DOHC engine? I'd like to use turboedit but they dont have maps the support DOHC non-tec as far as I know.

I have herd nothing but good things about the SMC.

Get a hondata. save a little more and get an s200b. that way you dont lose money when you upgrade in like 3 months! That is what i would do, but i like to do it right and to full potential on the first trip around

I would like to get Hondata myself. But see IM Non OBD and I dont want to spend $ to convert then get Hondata aswell. I wouldnt mind doing the conversion, the $ is a factor. I think that if your SOHC turboedit and ghettodyne are excellent standalone options, plus the software is free! You have to get some chips and an eprom burner and you have to install it but still.... A standalone is a standalone.
