i have heard that the d16z6 is one of the best platforms due to the most aftermarket support, but im just throwing that out there because i am not 100% sure

i can vouch for a d16z6
mines nothing special other than some really good parts, but it would be a lot better if it didnt have 200,000 miles on it but its a blast to drive. cant wait to rebuild.
also plenty of parts for them

Bone-stock I'd go with a dohc ZC. Easier to tune (no vtec fuel/ign map to tune), and has the thickest rods of the d's. Otherwise a built Z6 is the best. The head flows the best of the sohc's, vtec and availible cams give it an edge over the ZC and A6, and there seems to be the least amount of oil issues. The Y8 has either oil pump or crank issues, people argue which, but regardless it tends to spin bearings easier.

you already have an EF, so just drop in a D16A6 in it. the nonvtec sohc is a good platform for turbo as well. In fact all d16s are good for turbo, just stick with whats easier to put in your car. no need for vtec.

ya just turbo that one. depends if you are building up the internals. its harder to find forged pistons and rods for a d15, compared to a d16.
but if you're jus doing a basic street car to drive around, just make your own turbo setup with the d15
