PLEASE help me with my fuel system problem. hondata problem??
... ok i have a 94 accord ex and i just finished installing the following:
3 bar map sensor
aem fuel rail
paxton fpr set at 40psi
550cc injectors
earl's stainless lines from the fuel filter on...
hondata s200b with a solid red light on the blue box when turned on at ignition. (jumper j12 already cut, the chip is installed the correct way.)
when i try to start my car it seems like it wants to start (crank crank crank putt crank putt crank) but it seems like there's something wrong with the fuel?
Would a bad map sensor prevent my car from starting correctly?
how do i know if my injectors are working?
i tried putting back my stock ecu but it did the same thing.
i tried messing with the fuel pressure but nothing there...
is the hondata supposed to have a solid red light on when the ignition is on?
please help... i need to car for school soon....
there are 2 orings installed with the injectors...

are you running a base map?? if so, maybe the base map just sucks ***.
btw, when you put your stock ecu back in did you put your stock injectors back in? If you didnt, thats one reason y your car didnt start with the stock ecu.

Do you have a resistor box wtih the 550cc injectors? I know that the 550injectors from rc need the resistor box. Paul

Pull the plugs and check to see if they are coated in oil/fuel you might have wiped the rings due to an overly rich mixture. The easiest way to tell is a quick compression test. If the #'s are low, put a teaspoon of oil in each of the cylinders, turn it over a couple times, reinstall the plugs and wires and see if it fires up then.

what do you mean wiped the rings?? i blew my rings??? man that better not be it.
i'll do the compression test tomorrow and see what happens...
edit: btw how the heck am i overly rich?? could it be a really poor basemap??
thanks for your help
(yes i need some NGK colder plugs)....

Re: please help me with my fuel system problem. (accordfreak)
No, more than likely your rings were just wiped (ie: cylinders and rings washed out by all the fuel, removing the oil and carbon deposits that help seal your cylinder and give you proper compression. Try new plugs and put a teaspoon of oil down each cylinder. Turn it over before you put the plugs back in! This prevents accidental hydrolock if you happened to put a little too much oil in.

Re: please help me with my fuel system problem. (accordfreak)
okay, i already put some oil down the spark plug holes... compression went up.
cranked it over a couple times...
put the new spark plugs in 1 step colder ngk
put all the fuses back
tried to start the car... and did the same thing... on the verge to start.. one putt and it dies....
pulled out one spark plug and it smelled like fuel again....
so what now??? is it the basemap giving out WAYYYY too much fuel??

ok, first...check to make sure you are getting spark at each plug. just pull each one and hold near your block or other ground source and crank.
If you have spark and there have been no modifications to your engine otherwise, and you have no cel or blinking hondata light then you definitely have a bad basemap.
if you did any work on your engine...ie timing belt, etc, make certain you don't have your timing off. I spent 3 hrs one day with someone who insisted their timing was set only to find out he had one tooth off on the crank pulley and all we did all day was continually flood the cylinders because of it.

boostedh23a1- what was wrong with your ECU??
great..looks like a bad base map stupid basemap! ....cuz i do have spark and then you said it's normal to have a non blinking hondata light....
is there a way to check if the ECU is still good?
also the engine has not been touched.... internals, headgasket... all stock
btw: i put my stock injectors and stock ecu back... and it started right up so i can at least get around..... granny driving for now.... POS
is there anybody from the bay area that can help me write another basemap??? sonny? xerxes?

your ecu is prob ok.. i have the worst luck..
the led in the s200 should be solid.. if your getting power to the s200 your ok for the ecu most likly.. to if the led is comming on at all then u are getting power to the unit. im not gettng power to it.. the ecu gets power but not the CN2 connector.. damn jewish pos.. no offences if your jewish

perhaps valve clearances need to be adjusted for better compression? i had that prob w/ mine once, used to be 35, 80, 47, 70, - car wouldnt start, adjusted the valves to OE spec, now its 140+ across the board and car fires up every time.

what kind of expression is that??? I'm always surprised by the ignorance and prejudice in places I would least expect it. I suppose being from a place where the Confederate Flag still flies is a good enough explanation for me.
sorry to see you post something so innane.

Re: PLEASE help me with my fuel system problem. hondata problem?? (accordfreak)
The red solid light means that the interface box is getting power. That's a good thing. When you order the hondata from kyle did you tell him the specs of your car? (eg. injectors, ecu. and most importantly that you are running a 3 bar map etc)
My first guess is basemap.

If my 3 bar map sensor isn't working correctly, would this cause my problem??
here's what's in my spec sheet of the hondata...
engine: f22b1
ECU: p28
map: p30 550 autotrim 3 bar 2.2 from 1.6
boost: yes
map sensor: gm 3 bar
injector size: 550cc
fuel pressure: stock
closed loop: yes
knock sensor: disabled
boost cut: disabled
thanks

Re: PLEASE help me with my fuel system problem. hondata problem?? (accordfreak)
It is the basemap, plain and simple. I went through the same thing. Your car is running so rich that it is washing out the rings whenever you start it. That is why, when it does start it runs like crap for about 5 minutes. It takes a while to return the seal on the rings.
Take and put the stock injectors back in it, take it to a Hondata dealer and have it tuned for the 550's. (ie: put the 550's in at the shop) Or, get it running and take it directly to the Hondata dealer.

Sucks to hear you cant get it running. Fule setup looks nice good to see the injectors going to good use soon. What earls lines and fittings did you use for the setup? It is the exact same I want to run once I get boost going hopefull and god willing within the next year.
