plane head to raise compession????
ok i have a d16z6 and im rebuilding it top to bottom to run 20psi.
i have eagle rods, and CP pistons. the compression ratio is 9:1:1.
the pistons are .02 over.
if i were to get my head planed .020 i figure it would yeild me 9:5:1 compression. which is perfect for me. and it would give me slightly faster spool times, and better lower end torque, and more hp n/a. would this cause any problems?
i would use a stock thickness cosmetic headgasket for the over sized pistons and the head would be a d16z6 with crower springs, retainer, stage 2 cam, oversized valves, p&p, and 3 angle valve job.
thanks for the help.

Re: plane head to raise compession???? (bmcc72)
some poeple do do that to raise compression...
why cant you get 9.5:1 pistons, just a question...
cause once you plane or Mill the head, its a "you cant go back" type of mod...
even though i have seen heads milled to .040 which is way more than i would ever do...
if you ever overheat the engine, and you warp the head you would have to have it milled to make it flat again, but if you already have milled it, then you run into the problem of having to finding a new head.
when you mill the head you can run into lots of different problems, probably not too many at .020....but some can be later on with more milling being done...such as cam timing problems, vavle to pistons clearence problems

no one make 9:5:1 comp pistons for a z6. Dseries are 8:5:1, 9:1:1, or 10:1:1 or higher.
yeah i was wandering piston to valve clearance, and warping problems.
i have an adjustible cam gear so i can always work out the cam timming.
