I'm about to buy pistons for my soon to be turboed b16. Which size pistons and what compression ratio would be the best to get? I can get some JE pistons for a b18 that are 8.8:1 compression in a b16 that are 81.5mm. Do these sound like they would be a good choice? I am wanting to boost somewhere around 12-14 probably, daily driven. Also I plan on buying a set of Eagle rods. Please help me out as to any mistakes I may be making or any suggestions. Thanks.

 

12-14 lbs on a daily driver isnt going to be easy to get traction off the bat with... your better off getting a boost controller or a 2 stage. Boost at about 6 lbs daily, then flip the switch and do the 12-14 lbs when a Stunna rolls up, or when you are on teh highway in 4th or 5th gear...

As for compression... a 9.0-9.5:1 would be suffice... 8.8:1 is low, but its safer for tuning. Remember tha the lower your CR is, the less power out of boost you will have... and with boost levels that high, i would invest in an EMS to be safe and do it right the FIRST time... not after it blows up

 

Well I plan on getting a Hondata system and getting it tuned. I was looking into getting Eagle rods but now that I look, I think i'm going to go with Crower. Eagle isn't looking to be as dependable (duh) I also plan on running 550cc injectors. What type boost controller do you recommend? And would the 81.5 mm pistons be good? Also, I've been looking into a Blitz BOV, any pros or cons to this make? Also for the block i'm getting ARP headsteads, what type of headwork would anyone recommend while i'm doing my engine build-up before boosting? If anyone else has any suggestions, please feel free because I'm wanting to do things right the first time.
