Default anyone boost on topline pistons?

hey all,
i'm building a B18B right now, the intent was to build it NA but now that i have a new job and more funds i was thinking about going boost and making more power than i can going N/A. the problem lies in that i have a set of topline USDM B16 pistons 1mm overbore. now the block hasen't been sent out yet to get bored and honed. if i use these pistons my compression will be about 11.5:1.

my question is, can these pistons take any boost at all? i was informed that they can't, but i'm wondering if they can't even take low boost, i don't need to boost alot because with the higher compression it'll make up for loss power and i'm happy with 200-250whp. can i run like, 5-6 psi with the 1mm overbore on the toplines? any help would be great

fuuuuzzzzz

i would look for a set of forged pistons man......even if you use the stock LS rods....with those cast pistons your tuning better be dead on or you can easily melt or crack the ring lands.

They will be fine. They cant be much worse then OE Honda pistons anyways.Just spend your money on a good conservative tune.

If the block hasn't been machined or assembled yet I would just sell those pistons and pick up another set more suitble for boost. Sure with a good tune they will work, but boost is addicting and with a cast piston and 11.5:1 compression things are gonna get hairy if you ever want to go further. Save yourself the potential rebuild down the road and do it right the first time, you'll be happier in the end. I'd personally rather keep a stock bottom end then bump the compression up that high and still use a cast piston.

just my $.02

Check the sponsors classifieds here you will gen find the cheapest prices there.SRP is the cheapest piston but you might as well get a Eagle rod/Xbrand piston combo as you are putting the motor together now.
