Default Piston to wall clearance Q's

Is it bad to overshoot or plan ahead when doing piston to wall clearances,
My builder called me and asked whats the max boost i wanna run so he can get the clearances right, i want it to be able to take 30 psi or so when im ready for it , but at the moment realisitically will prob see mid to low 20's, is it bad to make bigger clearances and plan for the future, or will the piston slap **** me off and cause issues down the line ?

Depends entirely on the pistons you want to run...my Endyn Wiseco's were spec'd at .028-.029 but go by whatever the piston manufacturer recommends since different pistons will expand differing amounts.

stick with what the manufacturer specs it out. loose clearance will wear out hte piston, creates mad pistons slap and you'll prolly have to deal with excess combustion in form of smokes...

too tight of clearance can cause black death and other headaches...

every piston have different silicone content therefore expanded at a different rate, follow the manifacturer specs adn you'll be fine

Pete Dan puts them all within JE's specs, just either on the loose side or on the tight side. He is doing yours according to your boost needs and mine with my needs.

I would think that the clearences should be done to whatever the piston maker reccommends as well. Is is true that the clearences would be different for more power or more boost? Anyone have any better info on this?
