piston to wall clearance help

hey guys im building a motor and would like to know what yall would reccomend its a 81.5mm and hoping to be pushing 380 430 whp on pump gas...any reccomendations

depends on engine and piston, but for that hp on pump gas only and small bore, i would stick with the manfuacturer spec. probably around 3thou

Yeah, it's really hard to give you a feel for anything...it really comes down to the manufacturer. They know how much their pistons are going to need for expansion under the conditions they are designed to withstand. There isn't really any flexibility on a person to person basis. At least from my perspective there isn't.
All the motors I've built, I've directly gone off of the manufacturer. The last motor I built with forged pistons was an N/A setup for occasional nitrous use and it used custom JE's. I built the motor with .0035 clearance measured 1/2" up from the bottom of the skirt.
