Pipes keep blowing off how to stop it.
hey guys, Last week I took some of my IC piping off and when we put it back on I made sure they were tight. But once i hit full boost they keep blowing off it's happend 3 times in the last 4 days. The pipe ends are beaded, What have you guys done to stop this ? The car didn't do this for the first 2 months but all of a sudden it dose. Do clamps go bad ? Also what size clamp do you guys use on the Coupler to TB connection ? I have 2.5 inch pipeing so I replaced the t-bolt clamp that was on there which was a 3" becuase i though maybe it was to big and stripped due to over tighting. So i baught a 2.5 and it's to small.

You usually add .25" to the diameter of your piping to account for the thickness of the coupler when shopping for t-bolt clamps. For a 2.5" pipe connection, try a 2.75" t-bolt clamp.

What about the couplers, do you usually get them the same size as the IC pipe or do yo get them a little smaller or bigger than the pipe?

this brings up a good point. There's no way you're to be blowing couplers off using tbolt clamps and beaded ends unless you're pushing 50psi or more. Seriously.
I'm curious if you're running any hump couplers? I am willing to bet motor movement is your issue, not clamps failing to hold.

Couplers are usually sold by the ID of the coupler, so you would purchase the coupler with an ID that matches the OD of your pipe. Read: by the same size as the pipe you want to connect.

Hump hoses no i'm not running any just straight couplers. I will try a new clamp and wipeing down my couplers first due to the fact this has never happend before. If that dosent work i than will try a hump hose. as for boost it's at 20psi. So if i get a new clamp for over the TB get rid of the 3inch that was there and pick up a 2.75 ? . Thanks again guys

You could also clean the pipe ends with solvent and spray some sort of adhesive on them before you put the coupler on. I did this on accident on my old SOHC setup by spray painting the charge pipes an dputting couplers on it before it was completely dry... I had a hell of a time getting the couplers off when i took the kit off the car.

i had the same problem, tried everything, so finally i had them all welded together, only couplers i have are on the tb, turbo outlet, and ic... best move i ever made as there is no chance in hell they will ever blow off again. on the downside to get the tb-ic pipe in, i have to jack the car up and feed it through all of the twists and turns

the way mine is done, when the pipe is installed without couplers, it rests about 1/2" from the tb and 1/2" from the ic. so what i have to do is put the coupler on the tb and ic, and fold it over inside out, install the pipe, and then fold the coupler back over the pipe. there is not enough physical clearance for a blow out LOL
