pics of my turbo jetta
hey guys i'm new here, i don;t drive a honda but i visit this site daily, lots of good stuff and info over here so i thought i'd post pics of my turbo jetta, i built this car with my own hands
it was an automatic that ran 17.5 then added nitrous and ran a 15.3 then blew the motor, changed to a 5spd and turboed
it's a 99 jetta 2.0
here are the specs:
97 motor, ACN tranny out of 86 golf
match ported head and intake manifold
garret t3 turbo 50 trim
ATP manifold and DP
HKS SSQV BOV
ATP custom chip
310cc injectors
Spearco FMIC
lightened and balanced flywheel
ABD short shift kit
ARP headstuds
double headgasket for 8.5:1 compression
once all tuned and dailed in the car will run 13-15psi, my goal is 275-300crank hp
keep in mind my motor is only an 8v, so they are hard to get power from
over the summer b4 the chip and injectors with lowered compression with the old setup it ran a best of 14.9 @ 7psi with no traction, keep in mind the car ran 16.7 b/c the turbo
my goal next summer is 13.5
enjoy
the hood is c/f but hard to tell in the pic
my new seat, a christmas present for my lady

the thing that sucks about vws is there aren't many parts for them, lots of stuff have to be custom, and the turbo is behind the motor so fitment is another problem, i will be going to a t3/t4 this spring which i have to beat the firewall to fit it

What kind of chip are you runnin? Typically, an aftermaket chip advances timing too much to work well with FI- maybe that's why the Nitrous blew.
Nice setup, but loose the wiper

Nice. How hard was it to change from auto to manual? I'm trying to help my buddy with his jetta, but parts are really hard to find.

nice set-up. my friend is a die-hard vw guy. he's on the vortex all the time.
2001 2.0 auto, converted to 1.8t manual. running the atp kit with t3/t4. car is a beast but he's sending the atp chip back. it's causing the car to run too rich.

i know vw motors, dont make as much compared to a lot of hondas on here, but a lot of VW's will dyno about 250 whp and 300 torque, and a honda will make 300whp and 250 torque, why??? even though you guys have a longer rev range. just curious? and why the sooo big IC's and T's? are they really necessary? i know obviously they are for big power and great psi #'s and pressures

Welcome.
Your car reminds me of a VW Rabbit (AKA "the wabbit") that used to frequent the track I work at. I used to love that little car. Nobody ever anticipated the beat downs it handed out! It was gutted (but looked stock) with turbo and nitrous; ran mid 11s.
...loved to watch that car run. V8s never knew what was coming.

Re: pics of my turbo jetta (C-Redrum)
looks good but seems you have spent alot of money on it.
will the tranny hold up w/ the added power?
why not get the GTI 1.8t, chip it and add exhaust and it will be faster then ur car now.

lol the motors are actually really simple, honda motors look complicated to me

why not upgrade the head to a 1.8T head on your 2 liter block ?
use the 4K tranny out of the 84 rabbit gti and the jetta will fly ...
