Picked up some BFG's for the coupe...tech question though.
I just got my wheels back from Discount Tire, after having my new 225/50/15 BFG drag radials mounted:
Question: Should I break them in? And if so, how? I don't plan on using them on the street much at all, I bought them for track usage (mainly ). Should I drive them on the road before I go to the track, or just bolt them on the night before and run them?
Also, is the general consensus to burn the hell out of these, or just do a quick spin after the waterbox to get them clean?
Here's the ***** they're going on (I have a matching 16" set of bronze grids for daily driving/AutoX):
This might be a better question for the Drag Racing forum, but I figured a lot of FI guys run these tires so I asked here.

That is funny, I have a 98 civic with 16" grids and was going to get a set of 15s and bfg's. Could you let me know how well the 225's fit and if they rub during daily driving, if you do any? Thanks
Ive also read that a simle little burn out is fine, nothing crazy. Good luck with them .

No need to break them in ahaha, goes goes to the track, light them up and your good. I daily drive with these and they hooked up like no other, barely break loose in third gear with 280whp and 250tq

Do you have a LSD tranny? I am making 275hp and only really break loose in 1st and a tiny bit in 2nd if im really on it. Or could the difference be that I am only making 205 ft/lbs? Thanks (sorry if this is considered jacking)

Nope no LSD, LS trans i burn through second . On low boost which is about 230-240whp, traction is perfect. Just catches and go, feel weak like **** compare to high boost setting though

well are you going to be driving up to the track with them on? if so, there is your "break in" though you don't really need to do that. just get them to the right temp. don't need nasty burnout. just make sure you roll through with them. play with air pressure. you have to check it each time before you run. as the tires get heated, the air inside gets heated which increase the psi.

Nice, I am planning on the same tires put on my spare 14" rims 225/60/14, they should grip really nice with the large sidewalls compared to my Yokos that are 205/40/16.

air em down to about 20 or 18 psi and warm em up and launch on them at the track

If your driving on them to the track this is what I would do ..
Air them down to around 15psi cold
Do a 2nd gear burnout begining in the box and carying it out till you feel them hook .
If it doesnt hook well enough for you , you should lower the psi pre-burnout in 2psi incriments till you get ti where you want it ..

Re: (19sec beast)
the rub a little bit on mine, there are some small marks on the inside of the wheel well. i had to raise to about a 2 finger gap. no big deal. i have found my best psi at like 10 psi in the radials. i tend to do a nice burnout, letting it carry me up to the line in 2nd. i spin all of first, some of second, and chirp third. just ordered an lsd so hopfully i can pull my1.9-2.0 to 1.8's

Re: (11psiTurboSI)
Great tires indeed. I have them on my DD H22 turbo hatch. Mine only lasted 2500 miles with NO track time. All daily driving. I think the main reason they didnt last for me is do to the dyno. Dont use em on the dyno if you dont have to. The dyno wore mine out quick...

I drove on mine for over 1k miles and mine had seen over 50 dyno pull and the tread still look great, i would say 75% or so

That's exactly how I do it and pull consistant 2.0 60' times in a full weight power everything integra. They rub a little at full lock and I'm lowered. I use about 11-12 PSI cold and that seems to work well. Make sure to get an alignment if you DD these cause mine went down to the bare metal threads in about 10k miles, but I LOVED them. 1st is the only gear that spins and maybe top of second with 328whp/269trq

Stop being a *****... 2nd gear burnout at the water box until it's so smokey you can't see.
My nitto's grab like slicks when I have the tire pressure down to 12psi (I wouldn't go lower than that), but I normally run them anywhere from 16-20psi when racing.
