Default picked up a crank, journal scored?

the pic makes it seem a lot worse than it is, i can BARELY feel it with my fingernail if i run it accross, would a micropolish take care of this?

also, the counterweights seem to have some marks on them, i'm assuming this is just from oil stains etc, or am I wrong?

I'd take it to a machine shop and see what they say

the other journals look fine, so should i even bother getting all of them polished, or should I just polish this one and use a thicker bearing?

If you can feel it with your finger nail most likely it cant be polished out. Have you measured it with a micrometer yet? If the bearing didnt spin and they groove was caused by a little piece of trash getting in there you will probably get away with a polish. If the bearing spun your wasting your time.

You have to take it to a machine shop. Thats one of those things that you have to have in your hands to make a proper decision.

hmm problem is i was going to send out the crank to a machine shop since i dont really trust shops around my area

my friend spun bearings on his b17 crank and his crank looked wayyy worse

are there any other tell-tale signs of a spun bearing?

when i say i can barely feel it with my finger nail, i mean barely, if u closed ur eyes, you'd probably not evn notice it if u felt it....

how would i measure this w/ a micrometer? i have a digital caliper from harbor freight but i think the depth of the scoring is too small to even register accurately

A micropolish wont take out the scratch but from what I can tell from the pix, you will be fine. Remember, Micropolishing does not remove enough material to be measureable
