Phoenix Turbo

yeah, seems like everyone that we've built them for won't have any results till at least feb.

im going to be running one on the PeakBoost EVO mid Jan. ill make sure to post results on H-T too, if you'd like. after the tilton clutch goes in, we'll be swapping out the BBTO4R T3p for a PHX42 T3p

Ron @ IPS (HT name= EDO) will be using one on their new 2.7L K-series very soon. im sure you will see these results

feel free to PM me with any questions

I tested the phx47 a while back, which was the gt47 compressor with a gt30 turbine wheel. Didn't work out so well...

Yes, Ken took care of us with a PHX42S with a non-divided .96 AR hotside, which is super nice. We have two turbo dev motors, so we needed another snail. Phoenix Turbo sent us the GT4294R as well. Here's how I think it's going to play out:

PHX42S - 2140cc, 9:1cr - 89mm bore x 86mm stroke, K24 block

GT4294R - 2525cc, 10.5:1cr - 87.5mm bore x 105mm stroke, K24 block

We're trying to get the PHX42S up and running in the upcoming weeks. The motor is built and in the car, just need to fab the IC and downpipe.

-Ron

I always thought it was good business to test a product before releasing it?

I'd be REALLY hesitant in using a P-trim with the GT42R compressor wheel.

Ah... Are you guys modifying the boreless GT42R compressor wheel to work with a conventional thru shaft too??? Or is that something that Garrett does and sends out to you?

The only thing I dont like about the 42R is the overall size. The only way I see the phx42 hanging with the 42R is if a straight 42R or GTS exhaust wheel is used to keep exhaust backpressure down during cam overlap. If someone tries a P-trim or even the pos GTQ wheel at high pressure ratios there will be some pissed people out there.

The P-trim/GT42R sounds good on paper...

Well, not really, once you start thinking about size difference and airflow potential of the P-trim to the GT42R turbine wheel. Hindsight is 20-20 though.

I could be wrong, but I think the GTS turbine wheel still an awesome cut down GT42R turbine wheel... Better buy them in bulk so you can swap them at the track when they roll out the tail pipe.

Still...

This is exactly what people said of the 67 with the Stage 5wheel. It has been shown to be a fairly potent combination. Only time will tell.

Yeah things that don't work on paper ie compressor maps seam to work in the real world. If we used compressor maps then all Hondas would be on a straight T3 turbo. We shall see when these get tested. I am interested.

I would think GTS wheels flying out the exhaust pipe would be just an added benefit at no etxra charge!

Edit:Also Garrett is GREAT and they KNOW what works since they R&D everything but people seem to make variations on their turbos and they work, maybe not IDEAL but they work.

NM me talking out of my ***, I was thinking about my old Turbnoetics catalogue that had engine sizes listed and showed our motors should be on a T3 turbo lol.

Edit:Now that I check out Turbonetics new site they do have engine sizes updated and power goals, 700hp they recommend a T72 Ptrim in a .58 A/R and then 800hp T72 Q trim .58 A/R , turbine housings seem really small for these

Time will tell.

I would just hold on to your money for some results to come back before you buy into the idea though. Just call it a hunch.
