Regular spray paint will trap a small amount of heat. So the intercooler will not work quite as efficient as it should. Best way is to get it anodized as mentioned previously.

I personally painted mine with regular flat black spray paint, and hondata logger showed NO change in intake air temperature before and after. So there is no reduction in power here. Anodizing just costs more money.. just paint it.

yea, i loked into that too, i was quoted around $200. im not going to pay more for it to be coated than i payed for the cooler itself.

i cant beleive no one suggested one of the easiest and cheapest ways

go to SEARS or JCPENNY, and buy the XXXXXL BLACK PANTY HOSE!! Just wrap that bitch around the intercooler and no one will know...u can take it off whenever uwant to sell it too and it wont retain heat! and its gonna be dirt cheap because XXXXXXXXL is usually on clearance and 50% off since thank god no ladies should wear XXXXXXXXL

Damn, it's funny...you guys paint your intercoolers to be stealth...and other people put intercoolers on N/A cars so people will think it's turbo.

i wonder how much of a difference painting an IC would actually make. i would tend to think that a change in the outside temp would have a greater effect that the paint would. say, going from the warmest time of day time to a few hours after dark.

i dont know, just my .02; obviously nothing to back this up.

iirc, with my anodized FMIC, i always see IATs ~10-15deg above ambient while cruising. under boost, the difference is less due to the mass flow across the core since vehicle velocity increases a lot .

I actually enjoy all the attention I get from the intercooler

More than 5 times have had people flip U-turns and run with me and people seem to be drawn to the car at meets and sometimes just at normal stores

Im the only guy thats boosted in my area and theres only 1 eg in town with a B16 swap and I installed it for him lol, 60k+ people and are import scene is strictly rice, no performance

But I also have a nice garage to park it in at night, which obviously some people do not

Radiator Black Paint Aerosol 12 oz

Standard engine paints are too thick for radiator use because they can interfere with heat transfer and block air flow between the cooling fins. Also, standard paint tends to flake off radiator tanks. Radiator Black helps solve this problem. This acrylic enamel factory-finish (85% gloss) withstands 300 degree F., sprays on thick enough to cover completely, yet thin enough to not interfere with heat transfer. Great for heater cores and air conditioning condensers, too! Each 12 oz net wt. can covers 6 sq. ft., most radiators require 2 cans for full coverage. Buy 3 or more and SAVE!

10040 Z Radiator Black Paint Aerosol 12 oz $9.99

Radiator Black 12 oz Satin Finish

Radiator Black Satin - Many have asked for a lower sheen radiator black. The lower satin sheen resembles the gloss level of modern plastic tank radiators and some imports. Durable Enamel formulation resists temperatures up to 250 degrees F, gas and chipping. One can covers 6 square feet most radiators require 2 cans. Net wt. 12 oz.

No a carbon fiber hood and lip will not attract theives, because why would anyone steal a slow D series honda? Just for the hood and lip? I don't think so they would just most likely take the stuff off the car right there and be done with it. Now if you have a turbo kit on your car that requires you to take the car and strip everything off of it.
