Default Overheating all of a sudden

i just threw on my turbo kit on a brand new fully built motor that only has about 2000 miles on, never had any problems until after the tune, the temp gauge gradually goes over the half mark, i checked the bottom radiator hose, and it was cold, so i guess the thermostats not coming on, but why all of a sudden?

More power=more heat and air flow could be an issue now since there's more under the hood.

are you sure there isnt some air in the system? did you have the cooling system open at any point during the turbo install?

when does it overheat? idle? while boosting? normal driving? Mine over heated when at idle w/ A/C on only...but only after driving hard and boosting. All week I have been driving moderate with the A/C on and it is fine. What are you driving conditions? Did you solve the problem?

okay, latest news: headgasket eventually blew, were hoping its just due to the fact of overheating and not my acuual "turbo setup" some ppl are telling me that since im making 270whp on such a small turbo (greddy18g) and such a small exhaust housing, that its backing up a lot of pressure and blowing the gasket, currently were just going to replace the gasket and check both head and block decks, this time were running no thermostat, so we'll see whats up...if the engine operates at normal temp and headgasket still blows thats when ill have the questions...any input is appreciated

your engine will never operate properly with no tstat in there....YOU MUST HAVE A TSTAT!!!!!!

too much flow if you don't put a restriction in!

how do you know the headgasket blew? did you do a compression and/or leakdown test? what you even try a new t-stat? if the bottom hose is cold then the coolant isnt circulating. get a new t-stat and bleed the air, easy fix. always start with the cheaper option and work your way up.

yes, leakdown results showed 8% in cyl. 4..plus water was being mixed in with the oil so that was a given..and i tried a new thermostat still wouldnt come on ( bottom hose always stayed cold) whats the chances of two brand new thermostats? being bad and why all of a sudden once i turbo?

yeah but thats not the question, the question is the car was running perfect, literally everything was fine, i throw the turbo kit on, tune it, and all of a sudden i drive off and its overheating and the thermostats not coming on..you know what im sayin? its weird

maybe you lifted the head during tuning causing the gasket to go out. do you have head studs? are you logging temps, if so what numbers are you actually seeing?

Your bottom hose is staying cold? Have you checked to make sure your WATER PUMP is working??

Yea it could be a 1 off chance the thermostat isn't opening, but unlikely since it's just wax that melts to open and close it. I'd be more inclined to think your water pump as taking a dookie.

Headgasket isn't hard to fix just takes a few hours to take turbo kit off.

yeah arp head studs, and the temp was like 195 on almost every pass, except for one pass were the radiator cap gave out, its reached like 210, and it started throwing all the coolan into the reservoir...
