Default overheatin gt35r topmount

I am having a problem with my car overheating at idle and as soon i start to drive it goes back to normal and i even notice more at night when i turn the light on, its not my daily but i drive it every know and then on the street.

Iam using a advance radiator and slim fan also, i know this might be the problem but i just want people expirence with rad/fan rather to get oem or aftermarket, since iam planing to upgrade thanks pps.

Dual core radiator, nice fan(preferably shrouded), turbo blanket, wrap the DP, wrap the manifold, use more water than coolant, Water Wetter(or similar product), higher pressure radiator cap. If those don't help, you could try propping up the rear of your hood or running a vented hood.

use a T-Stat. It keeps coolant in the radiator longer so it has more time to cool.

Get an OEM thermostat and I bet your problem will disappear.

If not, get a better fan or another one in addition to the one you have now, one pushing and one pulling. Your problem is only at idle, not when moving, so it makes me think that your problem lies in airflow. You have plenty when moving, but not when idling, get it?

b18bturbo in the sponsor forum sells the turbo blanket, rs machine sells a nice inexpensive aluminum rad. i love my blanket, keeps the heat down alot!

that rad you have with the plastic end tanks is no good for your setup imo, i've seen those crack before.

I pretty much have the identical setup as you, and ran into the same problem a few weeks ago. I ended up wrapping the downpipe since it sat about an inch away from the radiator and bought a koyo radiator (used to have the stock radiator, which was most likely the reason for the overheating). The problem went away after that. BTW, i am running the factory thermostat.

are you using an advance auto fan? using it as a puller? they are NOT designed to be a puller. move it to the front, and get a radiator that isnt single core.

agree....... but imo you might have the fan wired up wrong are you using it as a pusher or a puller?

I wired my fan backwards and it kept overheating then finally figure i had it wired wrong.

if you put the fan on the front, and wire it correctly, you might not have to buy anything. those fans specifically say not to use them as a puller.

Design Engineering offers them I think. We don't stock their stuff, but can get it for you if you need. Just find the one you want and hit us with a part number.

And definitely put in a thermostat. How long since the water pump impeller was inspected?

I havent gotten my topmount yet but I took the following actions:
ordered one of these, http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...h=023

if you wanna buy from a more reputable company T1 also sells them, for $150.
he don't ship to APO so I had to go with ebay.

you can also make a blockoff to shield the radiator so the fan won't pull any air from the hot engine bay.

Try jumping the plug to the Thermostat, just put a piece of primary wire in there or a looped paper clip, it will run the fan constant, see if that fixes your problem first before buying all new parts, fan, rad, turbo blankets etc etc . Try to at least diagnose the prob first, good luck
