Default Overcoming VTEC on a turbo

Ok, ive heard several stories on how when vtec kicks with a turbo kit it sputters or somthing, i think this is called cam float, when it switches from lo to high lobe cams. why does this happen and is there anyway to overcome this without playing with the valve timings? thanks! i like this board BTW im glad i found it

There is no such problem so you can stop worrying

Actually that problem does happen (it happened to me) but it is mainy fuel related, and can be fixed with minimal tuning.

actually you willalways see a slight dip when vtec kicks in then as soon as cam changed to high it will kick back. Even on the race car. it drops like 5hp and then jumps 60hp when it kicks back.

I've heard of VTEC slightly "hurting" boost some when the big cam kicks in thanks do the jump in overlap (bleeding a little boost) and it seems on my Civic I have a similar situation (at about 5700rpm boost will drop .5 psi), but as far as sputtering or inhibiting the car, never heard.

i drop about 12 hp right at switchover, but it only lasts about 300 rpm. hopefully VAFC and cam gear tuning will fix it.

SEE i knew i wasnt crazy, good to know its a minimal problem and it is fuel related, probably just bigger injectors and a fuel rail will help it right?
thanks guys

Actually, proper fuel managment and cam tuning will help quell the problem, thing that sucks for me is, I've got a SOHC, so I can't really "tune" down the overlap like DOHC guys can. The fuel dip though I can manage when I get my V-AFC.
