Default Overboost protection - will this work without issues ?

I just thought about this - say if I am boosting at 7 PSI and I install a Normally Closed (NC) 8 PSI Pressure Switch (Only cuts the switch when it sees 8 PSI or more) onto the charge pipe going to the throttle body and then hook up the Pressure Switch in between the +VE side of my ignition coil so that if by some chance it sees 8 PSI (overboost), the normally closed pressure switch opens and cuts off the spark / ignition.

I think this will be a nice safety measure and I do not see why it would not work. Anyone care to chime in?

any adequate tuning solution on the market for hondas has this built into the EMS.

I am going to be using Crome so I am not sure if it supports something like that - but if it does not, here is a diagram of what I came up with ...

You guys think this will work well?

Hmmm, I actually thought that CROME did not have boost cut but I just looked on google and their site - it does. So how does the boost cut work on on that? Does it cut off the spark?

in order for that to work, you would need to make the switch send a ground to the positive side of the ign coil.

errrr..... perhaps .... use the switch inline with the positive side of the coil... which i now see, this is what you had planned on.

i belive oem coils are getting 12v power straight from the ign switch, so if you did it like the 1st suggestion i made, you might weld the terminals together if you sent it a ground burn wires up, pop fuses.. etc...

i belive the 1st suggestion would work, if you had an aftermarket external coil

Yeah I see what you're sayin ... makes sense and yeah I got an external coil but I am scrapping this "project" because I am gonna be tuning with crome and everyone told me it already has boost cut .

But I guess this would be useful for someone using a FMU or something and on EMS for tuning boost lol

Yea crome has boost cut,but your idea would have worked.I saw it awhile ago on a turbo 240sx site. It's useful for alot of other cars owners that don't have it as lucky as us honda guys that have ems options as cheap as 150 or free.
