overboost killing horsepower????
when your turbo runs out of its efficiency range it will stop producing X amount of power reguardless of the pressure boost you set it at.
it doesn't kill power, but limits the increase.
When the boost pressure is set beyond the turbo's efficiency, then the amount of heat that the turbo will generate decreases the power output. At this pressure, the turbo cannot move enough CFM to create more air flow.
make sense?

Ive heard that too much boost can start killing horsepower. But how exactly does it happen? did a search, and found nothing.
when you boost too much, and dont back off the timing to compensate you can
and then lose horsepower!
blah
blow a headgasket, melt a piston, break rings, or throw a rod
blah
