over revved
i have a stock 2000 gsr-t. today i over revved 1st. but it wasnt in gear, it was as i was shifting, so in neutral and it over reved by like 700rpms or so, so probably like 8700-8900. but it didn make any odd noise or anything, it didn sound at all liek the valves hit the pistons or anything and car ran fine afterwards. should i be worried? the engine has 28,000 on it

youll be fine as long as you dont hear like ticking and stuff and there is no diff in operation your all good....
Ive overrevved a few times but everythings still a-ok, i have aftermarket springs and retainers tho; if you dont have them I suggest you look into them they can really save you in over-rev situations....

Typically if you bent a valve you idle will be lower or surge.A compression or leakdown test will show you if you have done any damage.

really a bent valve will cause abnormally low idle? thats not eh only thing that can be responsible for low idle tho....
Hypothetically you hear ticking i would check the valve lash first, something mighta come out of spec, then I would start with compression and leakdown.
Is it a completely stock valvetrain? What engine are u running b16 or b18? They are made to rev pretty high like ~8300 and if your tuned to 8500 i doubt goin to 8700/8900 would cause a huge issue, but then again if you on stock train it might. Ive seen 8900 a few times in 2nd gear sometimes it just raps up too fast and i dont catch it til then- im only tuned to 8500 but havent had any issues.
NJIN BUILDR - would compression show damage to valves or only leakdown?

Re: (turbotime)
comression test shows damage in the cylinder, or no damage. Leak down narrows it down to which part.
IMO your car is fine. If you did it a lot or did it for an extended period i'd be more worried, but if your that worried, you'd need to upgrade, cuz i don't see how you would check for problems, a hair line fracture or something like that. Just do a valve lash, and call it good, specialy if it idles and runs fine.

Re: (turbotime)
stock b18c1......i mean i was running the turbo hard so when i got home after this overevving, i had to let the turbo cool. i let it idle for 20 minutes or so. i didnt hear any abnormal noises or ticking

Im sure that you are fine, if you dont notice anything different in the way it runs just pretend nothing happened. Also 20 minutes is super excessive to let the car idle. Even in the most extreme cases you dont need more then 3 mins of cool down. And if you have a water-cooled turbo like 30 seconds is all you need.

Re: (playahwitgame)
so there uis a slight tick, but nothign that wasnt there before it doesent sound different. my vacuum readings are the same for the most part. maybe offby liek .5 or maybe now im just paying EXTRA attention. car runs fine, no drivability problems or anyhting. once agian this is a brand new engine from acura and it sounds the same as it did when i got it. so should i be worried? ill probably give it a quick compresison test tomorrow at work. as far as leakdown, ive never done it. how do u do a leakdown?
