Default OT: Is 140mph possible on Radar or GPS with a civic?

Like it says...A honda civic Si with an integra type R setup would this be capable of hitting 140mph on a landspeed measuring device? We have done that on the speedometer and it went 140 but this guy is trying to tell me its impossible and that the speedo is way off at those speeds. He said he would be amazed if it hit 130 on radar. Has anyone ever seen this done before? (on radar or GPS not the clock)

Can't say i've ever done it with a radar, but i've taken my Si to 145 on the b16 tranny, and 160mph with the LS tranny. If it helps, i was racing a 3rd gen RX7 that registered the same speed on his speedo.

On a controlled race track
Same here.

I took my 92 Si (b16) to 145 in 5th @ 8000rpm with 22.8" Tires

<-- I'll never do it again.

a friend of mine has gone around 135 mph with measureing it with GPS unit. his speedo only went to 120 so it was the only way to see how fast he could go.

so i would say if you can get a hole of a GPS unit it cant hurt to have in the car.

You can always double check with your tach, check revs against speed. That's how I used to do it in my crx.

I took my b18c1 hatch to 8150rpms with a b16 tranny and 22.7" tires! That's probably somewhere close to 145mph!

make a pass with a gps and you will see the speedo is off on every single car or motorcycle you drive. I have dont it on my civic,my wrx, jetta, hayabusa, gsxr 750, friends rsx and it was off on every one .

the satellites its tracking, the more satellites you have connection the more accurate it is. but it can pin point your lat and long down to a couple feet, i personally dont know exactly the error margin for speed but i think its more acurate then a car's speedo

SCC broke 140mph with a jrsc powered SOHC civic.
It's very possible and not as uncommon as some think.

I've personally taken my integra to around 135mph a few times.
Add boost and you should be able to do it.

I really cant say I suggest staying in boost that long unless you KNOW your motor can take it. Also I've hit 147 as verified by a friends radar. b18b, i/h/e, still riding on 195/45/15's I believe.
