Default Optimized configuration for Hondata

What would be considered an optimized configuration for a Hondata setup on a normal street car 1.8L application?

Injector size (my biggest question)? Base fuel pressure? Etc. Stuff like that.

Maybe a parts list?

I want Hondata!!

It seems most people with a normal street car with hondata usually run 440cc injectors, a 1:1 fpr, aftermarket intank fuel pump. I am planning on using eclipse 450cc injectors with resistors.

I would really like to know what the base fuel pressure is too. And, if I should get a high flow fuel rail. Plus, would a high flow fuel filter be nice too?

For you mark? 550 or 720cc injectors 60psi base with a paxton or other (high quality) FPR. Walbro intank pump should work nicely.

What kinda power/boost are you planning on running?
550cc is good for 330 crank
720cc is is good for 430 crank

you'll also need an obd-1 ecu, either p28 or p72
of course a harness adapter

What do you have against fuel pressure?

720s makin 430 crank hp... that has to be like ~20 psi in the rail.

explain why those #'s are so low.. I always though 550cc injectors were good for 400crank..

those numbers are very strange. Are you sure you had the right injectors you thought you had?

I have seen 428 with 550s at 55 psi rail pressure using a 1:1 regulator and DFI and 560 with 720s. This is not crank HP either, wheel horsepower.

I agree, those predictions are very pessimistic.

there are many variables in choosing the injector to match your setup. Brake Specific Fuel Consumption, Fuel Pressure and Injector duty Cycle are all factors that come into play. You can run on the low side of all those numbers and have a very safe and reliable setup. Or you can push on the high side of everything and leave for very small margin of error and the two ends will differ greatly. I didnt say this is all that would work, but I am one who likes to run the approprite setup.

I also wouldnt run anythin larger than a 440 with stock fuel feed.

So what are 440's good for? I might have to get rid of my 440's before I ever install them.

I haven't hit the Dyno yet but I have 440's with 45psi at .5bar of boost. I'm in the process of tuning for .7bar because I run really rich (11.5:1) from 6krpm~redline at WOT. I'm gonna turn the boost up first and then back the fuel down to the 12.5~12.9 range. AF readings were taken with a Greddy AF meter.

Most common configuation is 440 cc with 50-60 lb fuel pressure and 1:1 regulator.

We have seen low 300 wheel hp with this configuration at about 85 % duty cycle and high 300s with 550 cc injectors. See https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=104324 for a 373 hp run.

A base map for a GSR turbo is part of the Hondata stage 4 system. Any dealer can install this for you into a stage 2b or higher.

Which 1:1 regulator are you all using?

Would a Hondata dealer beable to burn a Rom (is that what its called?) for me, if I tell them what I am running, to get me in the ball park? The only way Im going to beable to get Hondata will be to have it sent to me, I instal it, then drive it to the nearest person capable of tunning it. I'll probably have to drive all the way to Tacoma Washington which is about 300 - 350 miles from me.

I have always relied on Aeromotive fuel system parts. No nonsense pure performance.

I have hit 98% duty cycle @ 8000rpm on my 440's @ 42psi FP. I would definetely go with something bigger if I were doing it again.

JRSC @ 8psi & basic mods.

Why don't you just raise the static fuel pressure another 10psi? Stock static pressures are around 50-55psi anyway.

With 440cc injectors and about 50psi of static pressure (60psi at 10psi of boost), I was hitting around 85% duty cycle at 8000rpm at the dyno.
I've got a '99 Civic Si w/ Hondata & a Greddy turbo kit.
I would recommend 550cc injectors for your setup, in order to keep the pressures & duty cycles nice and low.
