Open dump tubes, how loud are they?
I notice not many people with external wastegates run a closed loop system and wondered where you guys/gals run the dump tube and how loud it is?

its not too bad. some people like it, some hate it.
most dump straight down or somewhere around the area the pipe goes too. like maybe a foot or so off the turbo. you can route it almost anywhere really

I had it on my MX-6 GT with the big turbo was not loud.
My friend PIMPRACER had his on his B16A crx and it was loud at 9,000rpm but makes good power On the top and we found faster spool up times.

Are the side exit dump tubes loud? Is the vented boost hot - do you run a risk of burning people standing nearby, say in a parking lot?
Thanks,
Ben

Some like the sound some don't. It's not annoying loud. The vented exhaust is hot that's why you usually route it away from lines and such. You wouldn't burn somebody with a side dump unless they were close enough to get run over and you were heavily boosting as you passed

Well you never know! Haha, my fellow high schooler peers are quite annoying, burning a few in the parking lot in the morning would be like a game!

mine was pretty loud (drag manifold w/tial) before the dump tube. I had a 2'' pipe welded up so now it dumps just below the oil pan, it's not as loud but will still get attention....
mines pretty loud also, 1.75 pipe dumped on the ground straight down. i also heard that the short the pipe the quieter it is.anyone have a shorty turn down right after the wastegate opening to comment on that?

I dont have a tube tube on my prelude. my tial is dumping directly out of the flange. i did have one before now. i like it better with the closed system. you can hear the turbo spooling better. to me it sounds like a bad exhaust leak. not cool.
at times my WG is louder than my BOV. and then there are times when my WG and BOV let out air at the same time or sounds like it...and that my friend...almost sounds like a ***** fart
