Ongoing Wastegate boost issues. Please see inside.
Can anyone help me here with a solution?
My problem seems to be that more and more the boost is rising directly from the gate. it should have a .7bar spring in it and i saw about 16psi yesterday. It seems to get worse and worse. the weekend before i was logging 13-14.2 psi , and well before that i didnt see it going over maybe 11-12. i just dont get it. My tuner thinks that it might possibly be the Manifold design or the Wastegate being too small. Im at a total loss of words here. the EBC is plumbed into the system , but turned off. Im not sure that makes any bearing on it.
Its a Tial 40mm gate. on a Lovefab SST manifold. however he did make a 90 bend for the placement of the WG to make a little more room.
if anyoe could help me troubleshoot that would be great

They usually use a 40mm but I'm not sure now that the 40 is no longer in production. I think the new design 44mm will take it's place.

Yep...no more 40's for the homies y0.

maybe get that new 44mm tial v-band one or the 46mm one, not shure i would say if you could remove the elbow try it with out it but you have a full lenght radiator right?

Here's my crack at it from some recent reading. The 90 degree bend for the WG is probably not allowing enough flow of exhaust gas to & through the wastegate, thus causing boost creep. I would try and create a bend, if necessary, which would not force the exhaust gas to take a less than ideal path.

im prob gonna cut the bend off then one of these days and just run it straight out. i didnt think it would be a prob since its been done on many log set ups. but who knows.

This is the exact opposite response I get from having a 90 off my Inline Pro to my Tial 38mm.
I've read many places that state that the 90 bend causes exhaust gases to speed up and cause less boost than should be there.
My $.02

it seems every setup is different, and the flow characteristics are probably different between the log and tublar manifolds.
I guess you can tell that I've been reading a good book

I have a LoveFab equal-length tubular manifold, with the wastegate elbow off at a 90 to clear my full-length radiator and I'm also using a Tial 40mm wastegate with no boost control problems. However, I am using a 1 bar spring and a AMS manual boost controller to control 19psi right on the money. That makes me believe it is not the manifold design or the wastegate being off at a 90.

Re: (-TRINiTRON-)
with everything set to 0 i dont see how it would fix it. do you think the spring is just too small ? if the spring is too small i could see it opening early though not that late.

Re: (flip1199)
i dont think it has to do with wastegate placement, simply because it held lower boost before and has slowly gotten worse. i would check all boost/vac lines for any tears or holes , maybe the one of the lines is bleeding boost and coasing the higher boost numbers

Re: (flip1199)
i had the same problem when using an elbow to the wastegate using a 38mm gate and an sc61. wouldnt hold low boost past 7500 for ****, got rid of the elbow and problem solved.

Re: (itr206)
but it is the same problem on low boost, after 7500, wouldnt hold, crept up to 20psi, despite anything that i did. removed the wastegate elbow, not it holds 14 all day.

Im Having the same Damn Problem. I was running an Air- water system it boosted 10psi no Problem. I bought the ss auto chrome manifold and a fmic. Now Get this THe first few days it's running working fine 10psi. Now the more i boost the worst it gets. I ran a srt4 and i saw 20 psi on a stock motor. Im glad it didn't blow up. SO im thinking wtf we put in a greddy profec b still the same thing. Change the wastegate out with another 35mm deltagate, nothing else happens. SO now we run the vacuum for the waste gate straight to the Turbo and Same ****. but Instead of 20 psi it's at 14psi. Remember all i have is a silver 7-9 psi spring. And have swapped out 2 wastegates which are theoretically in good working order.
Mods:
h22a, Ss autochrome manifold, greddy profec b spec 1, beats the hell out of me now im going to buy a tial 38mm wastegate hopefully that will solve the problem
