One cylinder hotter than the rest
I'm in the process of turboing my all motor car. I just got the B16 running and was checking the vitals and noticed that the number one cylinder exhaust was consistantly 100 degrees hotter than the other three. I have a top mounted GT4088 that sits right in front of that cylinder. Could this have something to do with the high heat. I don't think so, but I can't figure anything else out. Right now I'm still running on the old tune (86x95 motor) and the old 550 injectors. The car runs insanely rich, so when I pull the plugs to read them, they all look pretty much the same, black. The hot cylinder bothers me because I don't want to drive three hours to the dyno and have a meltdown on the baseline run. What else could possibly cause this? I can't think of anything. Help!

What method of measurement Fahrenheit or Celsius?
What are you using to measure the temps? Are they inside the cylinders, or on the exhaust manifold?

I can see where that will bother you,but running extremely rich as you say for a 3 hr drive to get tuned isn't a problem to you????
Have you ever heard of fuel wash?it will wipe out your rings and dilute your oil which in turn will ruin your engine.

Re: One cylinder hotter than the rest (SJP0tato)
I am measuring the temps with a laser heat gun on the exhaust runners. Degrees are in faremheight. I ran it again a little bit longer this afternoon and I got a difference of about 200 degrees. (550degrees verses 375 degrees) ideling at about 2800 rpm for 5 minutes. I am suspecting a vacume leak around the injector. I haven't investigated it any further, but that is the only thing that I can think would be. I pulled the head with the intake still on it and I replaced it that way, so I am pretty sure it is not a cracked IM gasket. A leak around the injector is my best guess. What do you think?

The car is a trailer queen. Glass doors, front end, decklid, all lexan windows, no lights etc. The car hasn't seen the streets for years. I want to make sure that I have the car ready for the dyno before I spend the time taking it down there and back.

good explanation sir my applogies.
So many here drive untuned on new engines and wonder why they have problems,it's good to see someone who knows better.

you're measuring the temp of the steel of the manifold, of course the heat from the turbine is skewing your data. you need exhaust gas temps not material temps.
