ok real jackass question
ok so the colder the air the more power correct, hahaha what if u had ur a/c full blast, but instead some how routed all that cold air into the intake rather than using it to stay cool during the summer, would u lose more power having a/c on that how much cold air ur supplying, or could there actually be an increase?, always wanted to ask this question
I have never heard of anyone trying that, but I can assure you that you probably wouldnt see any gains. The loss just by having the AC on would probably negate any gains.
now what if u had some type of motor , just say somehow it was possible, driving the a/c pump, i mean its cold cold air right?! i figure u cant really get this much cold air from ne other source, or am i wrong, or will a water-air ic with ice be cooler, just wondering
There are intercoolers that use a refrigerant system to cool air temps below ambient. check out http://www.bobnorwood.com and there's a ferrari on there with a HUGE centrifugal supercharger and an intercooling system like an air conditioner (no, it's not a water to air, in case you ask) This is something that I may look into in 2-3 years if I win the lottery and have nothing better to do
if i remember right the new lightnings that are coming out have the supercooler. what that is is obviously a supercharged engine, but the ac pumps cold air into a resevoir, then when the driver goes wot it dumps into the intake or engine somewhere and acts as kind of a nitrous effect.
well maybe if you have a elevtric motor that turns the A/C pump and have the condensor inside of something like a air to water so there is no drag on the cars motor just on the electic motor
The problem with actually feeding the conditioned air to the motor is that the compressor can't supply enough air for a motor at WOT. It may help by having a little cool air, but i'd rather have ac INSIDE my car and a turbo for the power...
