OK help me with checking my damn timing....
Ok so i have searched everywhere to help me figure this out. i hear once you use obd1 ecu on an obd2 dizzy sometimes you can only get 11* timing and not the 12* suppose to have. So I went out and tried to figure this **** out. Used a timing gun and here is what i see. Three lines all togehter towards the front (Im looking straight down through the two pointer looking things) The sinle white line in the back is ~centered between those two pointers.
So what do those lines mean? i cant find any info on the d series of what they mean, I foudn some good info for a b sereis but tat doesnt help.
Anyways sorry for the noob question. I for sure though I could figure this out but its been a PITA

I have a feeling im suppose to be centered with that red mark but even fully advanced i cant get it there. Im guessing becuase im using obd11 dizzy and obd1 ecu

on my F23 (SOHC accord) 12* is when you're synched up w/ the red line
not D-series but HTH a little

this is a very common problem when converting to obd1 on a y8 motor. Mine and many others do it. Now in order to get my timing to 12* I must advance the distributor all the way..and even then its only at like 11*, but if you are using uber or something you can just advance the timing in your maps to make up for it.
Now...for the explanation of the timing marks...if you have a non adjustable timing gun(one that you can't set a fixed degree) then you need to line it up so the middle line in that group of 3 lines is inline with the marks on the timing cover. However if you have an adjustable timing gun and you decide to set it to 12* on the gun then you will want to line up the single white line with those marks like you have right now. I'm guessing your timing is where it needs to be right now if you are setting the gun at 12*. If you just left the adjustable gn at 0* it would be the same thing as using a normal gun and you would just line up the middle of the three lines, which will also bring you to 12* tdc.

I kind of get it but i dont. My timing gun is not adjustable, you just hook the **** up and shoot. I advnaced the dizzy all the way and I can only get it to the last (right most) white mark of those three. (It was originanly at the 1 that is way behind the group of three.
So basically I want the RED mark in the middle of the two pointer plastic things correct? I have a feeling since I did do the obd1 ecu conversion that it wont let me have that last 1* to line up with that red mark.

yes you want to line the red line(middle of the three grouped together) with the pointer . If you can't get it to there then don't worry..you will only be one degree retarted and you can always fix that in your maps.

OK cool easy enough.
So on my maps since physcially ill be at 11* I should I still make my base timing 12 or should I use 13 to compensate for that one?
