Default Oil in a turbo?

Hi,

Maybe I'm going to sound like a noob but here its goes....Why do you have to tap from your oil pan when you instal a turbo. Is it for the bearing?

The reason that we tap the oil pan is to allow for an oil return line to run from the turbo to the oil pan. The turbo is usually supplied with oil from another source like a sandwich adapter at the oil filter.

To keep the bearing cool and lubed. some other turbos use coolant also to keep the bearing cooler.
