oil temp? searched
so ive searched but what is the best oil temp to attempt to keep?
and at what point do you know youll need an oil cooler of some sort.
I do a lot of highway driving since ive been FI (like 6 hr trips from school to visit my GF here and there) so at what point do i know i am having breakdown and need to monitor viscosity?
thanks

Re: oil temp? searched (95gsrturbo)
if i just had oil temp.. i'm getting one soon, but if you have oil pressure, you'd see drop in overall pressure if your oil is breaking down or if you're low on oil. oil manufacturers lists max temp ratings on their websites, so if you reach that, then its probably breaking down.
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=778788 - data sheets. i'm guessing if you reach these max temps, then its probably breaking down.
i'm using oem oil cooler, i think best way to keep oil tempes low on highway is obviously via lower speeds and rpm, but most important is to stay out of boost, cause the only thing i can think of that provides additional heating is turbocharger.. so when not spinning, it must not be working as hard.

Well.... I can tell you only by my engine (D114A4).
Outside temperature arround 10C (yah, celcius.... convert if to F ), and average speed of 110mph... oil temp never went above 90C.
On one longer uphill, where there was lots of traffic, and overtaking, oil temp still hasn't even reached 100C. Also, in city with some dragging, etc, I still haven't managed to get oil temp higher than 100C. We'll see in summer tho...
With oil I use... it's all good to upto 130C, after that there might be some problems.
