Default Oil return flange question

Ok this thing has been leaking forever, and I was wondering if its because the shop I went to used liquid gasket? I'm going how right now to buy a gasket kit to make a REAL gasket, cause the way it looks with the flange off, its gonna leak no matter what with liquid gasket soley as a sealant for the oil return flange on the turbo...
