Oil pressure problem
Ok I recently went ls/vtec, and ever since I had the car tuned the oil pressure drops close to 0-3psi when I push in the clutch quickly.
If I push the clutch in quickly from a given rpm (usually higher) it will drop close to 0psi then immedeatly go back up and hold steady at around 10-12 psi.
It never did this before the car was tuned (I drove it for a week or so on a basemap), or when it was a straight ls.
It only does it when the car is at FULL operating temperature. Im running a Defi oil pressure gauge FYI.
Oil pressure at crusing speed is normal 3k = 50-55psi, WOT = 65psi.
If I push in the clutch slowly and give it a slow rev it will come down to 10-12psi at idle and hold steady, it wont drop. It only does it when the motor is brought back down to idle quickly.
this sucks.

Re: Oil pressure problem (Blackack26)
as i have been told by larry from endyn
i am going to quote him
<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by Larry »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">.As clearances increase, oil pressure bleeds off, so anytime you see oil pressure dropping, you should know that it's a bearing issue.
</TD></TR></TABLE>
i would get the pan out, get a main cap out (maybe 3 or 5 and check the looks of it
i had that problems for 6-8 mths before i spun a bearing

Re: Oil pressure problem (USDM 4G VTEC)
thanks for the reply man, just thinking about it more, wouldn't the oil pressure be lower all the time if the clearences were getting larger?

yea
and thats what u just posted...
sympthoms?:
1- only does it when fully warm
2- oil pressure is very low and close to 0 psi on idle
3- WOT pressure is there
4- constant highway driving will see lower pressure than usual
when the oil is cold is is thick, and will see pressure
once it gets warm and thin, u will see the problem
get those bearings checked before u regret!!

sort of.... oil pressure drops at idle them immedetly comes back to regular idle pressure. Also, constant highway driving pressure has remained the same, its not lower than usual at crusing speeds.

Stock pressure is:
Idle(hot): 10 psi
3000rpm: 50psi
