Default oil pressure feed line

Where would be the very best place to find oil pressure to feed my turbo on a h23 engine? For the return line I assume i will be drilling the side of the oil pan and welding in a bung (unless someone knows of a better place to return the oil, so the biggest problem is where to get the oil from?

From where the oil pressure sensor goes on block. And rerun line to oil pan

sandwich adapter plate and run it from there. that way the turbo receives fresh filtered oil and not dirty oil thats already passed through most of the engine.

Use the oil pressure sending unit port as your source (unless you are using an oil sandwich plate). Not all sandwich plates filter the oil before it exits. The H probably has an OE oil cooler as well; where in that case I'd definitely use the oil psi sending unit port.

Return to the front of the pan (not the side)

Should I use a restricted fitting on the feed line or will the -3 an braided line wide open be fine for oil feed. Also does anyone know where my oil pressure sending unit is located on the h23?

The sending unit is on the back of the block above the oil filter.
A -3 line with an ample drain is usually fine as long as you have 'normal" operating oil pressure. A restrictor in most cases will not hurt anything; but also in most cases isnt needed.

OK I think that I am going to buy a restrictor and drill it out a couple sizes larger, because the hole that's in a normal restrictor seems a bit small. If i ran the line wide open I may take a chance of getting thru the oil seals in the Turbo but then considering I will have to run a long line to make it from where my oil filter is on the other side of the block may compensate by not using one at all???? Still think it does not matter whether I use a restrictor or not? Just wondering because this is my first time messing around with a turbo, Thanks for all the input on this subject so far!

I just heard from turbonetics and they say 90psi is the max, then a restrictor fitting is needed. Just figured I would let everyone know the let me know exact maximum psi rating.

u should be fine without a restrictor, dont ever drill one out because u will have no idea what size it is after, im pretty sure precision and turbonetics are good without but garretts definately need one. u should install a gauge so u know what your pressures are. hondas can be between 70-100psi turbonetics should be able to tell u what u need for your exact application. if u put one in too small and you starve the turbo you'll kill it. if u buy one and drill it out u might as well just not use one.

Yea I think wide open on a -4an (I was mistaken and called it a -3an above) size braided line will work fine. I guess it would be a good idea like you said and install a oil pressure gage also. I was gona try to slip by without a gage but I didn't realize the oil pressure is actually very close to the 90psi. But I will be not using the restrictor fitting unless my car does hit in the 90's. I hope i do not need one at all. I am definitely am going to try it without first.

if the pressure is too much u will blow the seals, best thing u can do is contact turbonetics and tell them your setup and see what they recommend. the last thing u want is a brand new turbo blown over a 10 dollar restrictor.
