Definately too low, place the top of the fitting about a 1/4 to 1/2 an inch from the top of the pan.

Mine is about 1/4" of an inch from the lip of the oil pan where it connects to the block. If it's too low your return won't be flowing well and you can damage your goodies. The return is the one thing you don't want to skimp on...do it right and have no worries later

Cut the fitting off and weld a plate over it and either keep it or sell it cheap to someone. Plenty of guys would probably buy it for cheap.

see if the pan will hold 3.5 quarts of oil without reaching the return hole.

What type of turbo are you using? Mine is in the same spot, maybe even lower and I have no problems at all. I do run a GT BB turbo which needs very little oil.

Also, who knows how much oil is being pumped through the system when the motor is running? 1 quart, 1/2, maybe 1.5?

Something to think about...

its a garrett turbo t3/t4, the pan is a GSR oil pan, but that is also true, about how the oil pick up is picking up the oil and going through the motor. that is something to think about. still not to sure though
