oil light came on after boost???
last night my car was finally running right. i took it out for a drive and it pulled pretty hard. i went down to a straight away and did about a 20 punch. when i started to slow down to turn around, the oil light came on and then turned off.
i drove home very slow and in vacum. as i was coming down a hill, the light turned on and turned off again. as i was pulling into the shop, i put the car in neutral to let it roll in, the oil light turned on again and then quickly turned off.
i let the car sit over night. i went today to check the oil and the oil level is perfect. so the motor has oil. i took the car for a short drive up the street to see if the oil light would come on again. it didn't come on at all. as i was getting closer to a friends house, i hit about 3psi of boost to see if the oil light would come on. it didn't. i let the car idle for about 5 minutes, left my friends house and as i was leaving, i got on the gas and hit 7psi through 1st,2nd and a little of 3rd gear. as i started slowing down at the stop sign, the oil light came on and quickly turned off. i drove home, 2 streets down, very slow. i was in 4th gear and down shifted into 3rd and the oil light came on and then turned off again. as i was about to turn into the street i live on, the car was at a stop, the oil light turned on and then turned off quickly again.
what would be causing this if i have enough oil? my first thought is that its the oil pump, but is there any way you can tell if the oil pump is bad? i have another oil pressure sensor deal, the on that the oil feed line goes to, and i was thinking of putting that one on there. the only thing is, i don't really want to drive my car around if this oil light is going to keep coming on. i don't want to mess the motor up.
any ideas?
thanks

your talking about the oil pressure sender sensor deal? well, the wire that goes to that is connected. do you think that may be bad? i do have another one that i can replace with.the oil doesn't stay on, it just turns on and off quickly. it has only come on after i hit boost, until then, it hasn't come on, but then again, i didn't drive it much before that.
if anybody thinks its the oil pump, would getting an ls oil pump be good or should i try to get a type r one? i have an obd1 ls motor.

yeah sounds like some thing is loose. when you drive it hard it something is loosing connection....try to change the plug see what happens..

alright..i'm going to get an oil pressure guage this weekend and hook it up. i'm just going to get a cheap one though.
yeah...the guage i saw is like $7.xx and the hook stuff is $4.99.
so i'll buy that.
does this seem like my oil pump or is the oil pressure dropping after boost for some reason? my oil level is on the second hole on the dipstick, should there be more cause of the turbo or is that the right amount?
thanks

don't know yet....you gonna help me hook it up?
i will see if i can find a spot for it inside the car somewhere. maybe i can mount it
somewhere beside the steering wheel or something.

ill help you but i heard you wanted to put it under the hood. i was like what you want the gauge for you need to see it while your driving to see what the pressure is. duh
yeah...this one i thought about putting under the hood cause its only a 2" guage.
it won't fit in my guage pod. i'll find a place for it inside the car somwhere. i think i know where i can put it, but i need to buy the guage first to see the mounting hardware.

yeah...the connection at the sending unit is a lose connection. i tore if off by accident when putting the motor in so when you connect it to the sending unit, it doesn't fit real snug like it used to.
