Default Oil light came on

UPDATE

look what i found in the oil pickup

i was in 2nd gear around 8500 switcing to 3rd the oil light came on, popped it in neutral idled for 20 seconds pulled over turned off the car. I let it sit for about 5 minutes cranked it up loud ticking noise, after i had heard the ticking noise i shut it right off. Now did my oil pump shatter?i guess ill just wait untill tomorrow to drain the oil to see if there are any metal shavings in the pan, anyways if thats the case then i will be going 2.0 9:1 comp whole nine yards any help appreciated. Thanks to lawrence and his friends for giving me a tow. any suggestions appreciated thanks as much as i hate dumping money into this car boost is the only thing that keeps me going, it was a fun 11.3 comp on 6 psi

ditto, prob shattered oil pump at high rpm's leading to loss of oil to the bearings which = rod knock ... lucky you didnt put the rod through the pan/block

rod knock sounds like valve tick, you may have just been low on oil and your oil pump could be fine, whatever is it the fact is it sounds like you lost a rod bearing and everytime you run it now it will just get worse so dont start it

definately, my oil pump went on me. Luckly i was in the driveway already, and i shut it off imediately. I had no oil pressure meter at teh time, so i took off the oil pressure sensor from the back of the block, left the hole open, crancked it over and absolutely no oil came out.

when my oil pump broke.... back in 01... HAHA. i didnt know what it was... but yes... it ticks alot..... definitly not a rod knock type sound...

more than likely.... you did the same **** i did....... broke the oil pump.... had no idea why the oil light came on...... kept the engine running....... took out your #3 rod bearing.... possibly overheating the crank/rod.......

wondering about allot of things....so the oil pump shuttered while mis-shifting or something or it shuttered for no reason on that high rev? is it OEM and whats the milage on that oil pump you got? am not saying anything is wrong here, but am just curious about how long an OEM oil pump survive high level of whp?
