Default Oil Filter Relocation: Add Extra Oil??

Hey I got an oil filter relocation kit and the lines for it are pretty long (6'). Should I add more oil to compensate for this?

I usually fill up with about ~4q and with the car off that puts the "oil level" at the topmost dot. But when the car is on, or off after just running, the oil level is just barely at the lowest dot....

Is this bad? Should I add more than 4q cause of the relocation kit?

of course you should add more oil, add enough to compensate for the lines....just like you would when you would add oil lines for a turbo...just add a lil more.

like how much more? where should the oil line be at while the car is running? [i ask WHILE its running cause this is when those damn lines are full of oil, checkin it while its off is useless cause it reads full even tho it may not be....]

The hose is a cylinder, 2*pi*radius*length gives you the volume, convert to liters. Pour oil into the filter before you screw it on so you know how much it holds and you don't need to compensate for it. Pour however much needs to go into the pan like normal + however much the lines need.
The lines are going to retain oil when the car is off unless the filter is higher than where you plumbed the lines into the block.

While you are adding the extra oil, keep checking the oil until it is in between the "dots."

Just make sure you dont cross the lines when putting it on

I had a friend who did that on a fully built B20V and blew it up after 2 mins of running because he didnt have any oil going anywhere

How would this happen? I've been thinking about this for a while and can't figure out your logic.

It would flow either way.

fill your pan till you read on the top line of the dip stick, run the motor for a minute, this way you know everythign has oil in it, turn the motor off and give it a good 30-45 seconds for oil drain back, then check your oil level. should be a little low just add till your on the top mark of the dipstick and your good to go those line shouldnt hold to much specially if you have it upside down to drain back, if you have a cooler on there then that will hold abuot 1/4 quart not to much
