Default Oil Feed Question???

OK, I am turboing my H22 and I have already ordered the parts. The oil feed line runs off the back of the head by the distributor, only on H and F series I believe. One of the Turbo Mods on S H O was the one that told me this, also a tech from Honda did too. So, the point of this thread is to ask the effectivness of taping into this place, rather then the oil sending unit, and using it as the oil feed line for the turbo. The mod wasn't completely sure. This is because CheapTurbo.com told me that they had never heard of it. I will test whether it holds constant pressure or not with a gauge when I get a chance. And BTW, I am not stupid, I am just very unfamiliar with this idea. No one on S H O could help me, so I am expecting that you guys probably could.

Thanks Alot!

I've heard the pressure is unstable up there. Everyone I've talked to taps for oil at the pressure sending unit.

I'd "T" off from the oil sending unit next to the oil filter if i were you. Sounds alittle too risky to tap into the head..

The pressure on the head is not constant, there's too much variety and fluctuates at all times. That's why VTEC Solenoid uses a oil pressure sender to see make sure that the pressure is there before engaging the VTEC lobe.

The pressure off of the stock sending unit is the better one simply becasue it is constant and provides stable pressure at all times. Being close to the oil pump on the first galley helps alot as well.

hope this helps

man that sux I was almost positive I read about it off of here. How woudl the pressure vary? Shouldn't the pressure be constant due to the close circuited system?

The oil isn't pressurized through it's entire journey through an engine. There are areas where it is pressurized, and areas where it's just slung around, i.e. - the oil pan and the head. When the pressurized oil in the lines and channels gets near these places, fluctuations in pressure are to be expected.

So do you know where you got this idea? Are there any resources out there that condone this technique? I can't find anything that is in support. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks for all the respones.

Dude are you alive? I don't have permission to PM you, so this is the only way I can contact you. Can you help a fellow Washingtonian out and answer the question? Where did you hear about this type of oil feed setup? Help Please

It's just that I have all the lines and fittings for the other method. And since I went with the good stuff, it ran me about $150 total. Looks like I get to spend even more money.
